3G compatible handsets to be rolled out by iBall next January

The Indian handset market is set to be further competitive in coming months with iBall revealing its plan to come up with 3G compatible phones by January 2011. On Wednesday, the company unveiled 11 cell phone models in 7 categories.

iBall Cell Phones PictureIn this context, Sandeep Parasrampuria, director at Best IT World (India) Pvt Ltd, which makes iBall products said that foraying into the mobile phone segment was a normal progression of the company.

He also added that at present iBall has products in 20 categories with cell phones being the 21st. Mr Parasrampuria also added that iBall will design phone as per specific needs of buyers, thereby taking a segmented approach in a market which boasts of intense competition.

Meanwhile, the handsets have been priced between Rs 1250-7000. Among the handset categories, there is a Senior model meant for senior citizens. The model comes with an emergency SOS button and a bigger display. Apart from the Senior models, the other models that were launched are Waterproof, Shaan, Flip, Posh, Sleec and Touch.
