The wait is finally over for Reliance users. Indian telecom giant Reliance Communications Ltd on Monday rolled out 3G services in four major Indian cities. The cities where the services have been launched are New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh. It is expected that by March next year the services will be expanded to over 13 telecom zones.
With the launch of the 3G services, Reliance Communications Ltd has become the second private company to unveil the services in the country. Tata Teleservices Ltd launched 3G services in November and Bharti Airtel Ltd is expected to offer the service by the end of this month. Vodafone Group PLC is expected to launch 3G during the first quarter of 2011.
Faster Access To Internet Via Mobile Phones
The buzz of 3G has been for long and it was brought in India by BSNL in 2008. With 3G on your cell phones, you can have faster access to the net and video calls. The 3G services of Reliance can be availed at the price ranging from Rs 199 to Rs 2499. Reliance had won bandwidth to offer the services at a whopping price of $1.9 billion. At the end of September 2010, the company had subscriber base of over 117 millions.
