In a major development which can revolutionize the mobile world, soon all cell phones irrespective of their brands might get a
universal charger. It is to be noted that till date cell phone manufacturers have been adamant on using proprietary jacks which have forced users to buy separate chargers for their cell phones. This apart from posing environment hazards made chargers of phones useless once users changed models.
This was noticed by the European Commission (EU) which got 14 major mobile phone manufacturers to sign an agreement for standardization of charger in 2009. EU has finalized the details for smooth transition of universal charger and has sent details regarding the technical specs of the chargers.
Companies Signing Agreement For Universal Charger
Nokia, Samsung, RIM, Apple are among the several companies which have signed the agreement for a universal charger and the technical specifications of the charger is based on micro-USB connector. Micro-USB connector is found in most of the mobile handsets available in the market today.
The universal charger will be available in Europe and then will spread in other parts of the world. So once standard chargers are available you do not have to worry about carrying your charger everywhere you go.
