Currently the two ways to grab a Google Nexus One smartphone in the US is by going through T-Mobile or direct to Google; however that is soon to change as a CDMA version of the Android toting Nexus One is due to this the Big Red network.
Apparently the rumour surrounding Google’s Nexus One superphone is that the Big Red may just gain the Android superphone for their network on the 23rd of March, which will make Verizon Wireless the 2nd carrier to offer the Nexus One in the United States, reports mobilemag.
When the Android powered Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus One launched, it was no secret that it was heading towards the Verizon network (NYSE:VZ). What we weren’t clear about was when. The only information we had to go on was a vague message stating “Spring 2010!”
There is a new app to add in the already intensive library of Google code for your Android phone. You can use it for everything from Gmail to Google Maps, and now you get to have a global view too thanks to the new Google Earth Mobile app for Android.

A report from Flurry shows that the Google Nexus One sold only 80,000 units in its first month. We earlier reported that they sold 20,000 during the first week, so exactly one fourth of the whole months sales. Nexus One’s sales are quite bad if you compare them to the first months sales of the iPhone or the Droid. The Motorola Droid sold 525,000, and the first generation iPhone sold 600,000 during their first month.
One of the reasons for this, could be that the Nexus One isn’t carrier bound, and only sold by Google. Also, Google didn’t advertise the phone much. If you think back in time on the announcement/release of the first iPhone, you can maybe remember the crazy Apple hype that went on. It was almost like everyone was crazy about this phone. Same thing was done with the Motorola Droid. Crazy Ad campaigns and hype around the launch.
It you are in the UK and don’t particularly want to spend a small fortune getting the latest Android smartphone, the Nexus One, direct from Google, the word is you may just be able to get your Nexus One from T-Mobile UK.
According to an article over on techwatch, the head of corporate affairs at T-Mobile, Robin O’Kelly has tweeted that T-Mobile is talking with Google over the Nexus One and hope to come up with something very soon.
So far the only UK outlet to announce they will be having the Google Nexus One is Vodafone, but as Google has gone with T-Mobile over in the States I see no reason why they shouldn’t do the same over here in the UK.
So, if said tweet is on the ball T-Mobile customers may soon get the opportunity to own the Google Nexus One superphone without needing to switch carriers; more as and when we find out.
Motorola has just confirmed that it’s working with Google on a new smartphone, possibly the Nexus Two. Just as Moto CEO Sanjay Jha announced the company’s quarterly results, he also mentioned that the handset maker will create a “direct to consumer device with Google”.
Jha provided no more details about the upcoming device, but we suppose it’s the leaked Motorola Shadow, pictured in the render above. We expect this to be the Nexus Two everyone’s waiting for and we remind you that Motorola’s CEO was present on stage when the Nexus One was launched, as a hint of his company’s upcoming partnership with Google.
If you’re curious about Motorola’s performance this quarter, know that they sold 12 million handsets, 2 million of them being smartphones.
