Here’s the deal, folks. The Nexus One launched on T-Mobile USA earlier this year, which has different 3G bands than the other GSM-based network here in the States. Well, the time has come that the Google Phone is now available on AT&T (and Rogers, up in Canada). Yes, you read that right. We just got word that you can head on over to Google’s Phone Store, and order yours right now.
Here in the States, the name of a device goes a long way for some people. After all, you don’t want to be the one running around with some phone with a ridiculous name, right? In the case of Google’s very own Nexus One, it looks like things aren’t going as well as the Mountain View-based company would like. Reports are coming in that the United States Trademark Office has officially denied the Google phone’s other, more official name, and that means Google has been put on the spot.
For now, we’re planting this one firmly in the “rumor mill” category, and we don’t think we’ll be letting it out any time soon. However, if it’s true, then the folks living in what cell phone industries consider “emerging markets” are reading the best story they’ve read in weeks. Apparently, the folks over at Google think those aforementioned markets deserve their mighty Nexus One device, so they’re going to make that happen. However, it seems that the phone may be losing a few features along the way (unlike the Verizon Wireless model).
Currently the two ways to grab a Google Nexus One smartphone in the US is by going through T-Mobile or direct to Google; however that is soon to change as a CDMA version of the Android toting Nexus One is due to this the Big Red network.
Apparently the rumour surrounding Google’s Nexus One superphone is that the Big Red may just gain the Android superphone for their network on the 23rd of March, which will make Verizon Wireless the 2nd carrier to offer the Nexus One in the United States, reports mobilemag.
When the Android powered Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus One launched, it was no secret that it was heading towards the Verizon network (NYSE:VZ). What we weren’t clear about was when. The only information we had to go on was a vague message stating “Spring 2010!”
There is a new app to add in the already intensive library of Google code for your Android phone. You can use it for everything from Gmail to Google Maps, and now you get to have a global view too thanks to the new Google Earth Mobile app for Android.
