Opera Software has recently launched a native version of its Opera Mini 5 beta browser for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices. This version doesn’t require Java to work, so it’ll be compatible with any Windows Mobile handset, packing all the rich features of the Java-based browser.

Famous for its java version, the Opera Mini 5 beta has been released in a native version for Windows Mobile 5- and 6-based handsets. The native version does not require Java to run. It comes in the same features as the Java-based version, including tabbed browsing, password manager, bookmarks and Speed Dial.

At last, the Facebook application for the Zune HD has been released. It has elements of the Metro interface that Microsoft is utilizing on Windows Phone 7 Series devices, and so looking at the this rendition of Facebook, we can get a sense for how other apps would look on WP7.

facebook for Windows Mobile

Seems like everyone is addicted to Facebook now. If you are one of those millions, then you might want to check out what Microsoft has in store for you if you are a Windows Mobile user.

Specifically Facebook app version 1.2. Some of the main feature updates include the ability to “like” a comment, or to add to current comments. Why not go ahead and download Microsoft’s latest app from the marketplace and get more out of Facebook on your phone?

The WordPress app is expected to expand further and now it seems the next stop will be the Symbian and Maemo. Following the release of the WordPress app for Android, the WordPress for Nokia app was announced and will be based on the Qt framework.

So in the coming weeks, don’t be surprised to find a beta version to come out. WordPress apps are now currently available for BlackBerry and the iPhone. The coming WordPress app for Nokia phones will likewise be free.

If you have a Nokia N900 or Nokia N810, you should know that Mozilla Firefox RC1 (Release Candidate 1) for Maemo is now available for download.

Also known as Mozilla Fennec, Firefox for Maemo promises to make you “forget about the clunky, stripped-down mobile Web you’re used to”.

The Firefox mobile browser has many nice features, like the Awesome Bar, Password Manager, tabbed browsing, location-aware browsing, one-touch bookmarking, desktop syncing and add-ons (for personalization).

The RC1 version of Firefox for Maemo comes with several improvements, including enhanced text rendering and N900-specific bug fixes.

The head of the Firefox Mobile project has told the BBC that the Fennec browser is days away from launch and it seems that it’ll be available on Nokia’s N900, before other platforms. Final testing is what’s happening right now and we’re expecting a 2009 release, hopefully.

Opera Mobile 10 beta2 has got an upgrade this week for Windows Mobile and Symbian/S60 phones, including several updates aimed at improving the user experience. Localization for Hebrew and Arabic-speaking regions was prioritized in the Windows Mobile version, and native keyboard integration is a key feature of the S60 version.
