Mozilla has finally released the alpha version of its mobile browser Fennec for Nokia N900 and Android (2.x) devices. Fennec is the codename of Mozilla’s mobile project. This browser is built on the new “Electrolysis” and “Layers” technology which concentrates on increasing speed and responsiveness. Fennec is designed and optimized for browsing on a mobile device and it comes with some interesting features such as Firefox Sync, Add-ons and the Awesome Bar.

Opera is on a roll these days. After launching Opera Mini 5.1 (Android version included), the company has now announced the availability of the first beta of Opera Mobile 10.1 for Symbian S60.
Among the new features that Opera Mobile 10.1 beta for S60 comes with, Opera mentions accelerated speed (thanks to the Presto rendering engine, the Carakan JavaScript engine and the Vega graphics library), and support for geolocation (you can activate or deactivate sharing your location at any time).

SPB Software has just announced an update for the Windows Mobile version of the SPB TV application, now available in version 2.0. It’s important to mention that the software is free of charge and subscription free, as it generates revenues from advertising. The ads that pop up in SPB TV last only as long as the channel buffering takes place, so the user experience is not crippled.

Microsoft Tag, the mobile application that uses Microsoft’s own barcode technology (called High Capacity Color Barcode, or HCCB) is now out of beta, being available for free for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Palm OS. The application is also available for J2ME phones, although this is still in beta.

According to a Tuesday announcement, at the CTIA Wireless conference, Verizon Wireless said that Thursday, March 25, onwards, the users of Verizon smartphones will be able to download and use the Skype Mobile application which will enable them to make free calls and send instant messages to Skype users.

It seems like that Microsoft is aiming to make their new Windows 7 series phones, the first choice of office people along with students. There is no official note from Microsoft but few experts have somehow managed to take a glimpse at the new office applications in Windows 7 series. Most commonly used and very much needed Word, Excel and OneNote are now available in this gadget.
