It is no doubt that Chinese mobile phones are favored among several users due to their value rich features at a cost effective price 
point. During the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Chinese phone makers showed that they can do much more than to roll out low-end phone.
ZTE and Huawei two of China’s leading telecommunication equipment manufacturer showed smartphones which though may not be as competitive as devices manufactured by other vendors but were enough to prove that Chinese phone manufacturers are ready to make a giant leap in the mobile phone segment.
Huawei unveiled Ideos X3 smartphone at MWC which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and boasts of 3.2 inch touch-screen. Earlier in September 2010, the company came up with Ideos which it termed as the world’s first affordable smartphone. Ideos ran on Android 2.2 Froyo and were sold at $ 150 by carriers such as Metro PCS and Cricket.

Nokia and Windows Phone OS lovers have a reason to rejoice. Chairman of Nokia board chairman Jorma Ollila in an interview with 
YLE said that the company will be coming out with phones equipped with the Windows Phone OS from 2012. It is to be noted that earlier the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer had tied up with Microsoft for rolling out smartphones equipped with the Windows Phone OS thereby replacing its Symbian platform.

Korean electronics manufacturer LG took a giant leap in the smartphone segment when it introduced LG Optimus One in the market. 
Optimus One happened to become the fastest selling phone in the company’s history and now LG plans to sale more than 30 million smartphones this year.
It is to be noted that according to IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker, LG’s market share in the fourth quarter of 2010 dipped down to 7.6% from 10% during the same period last year. With the rise in demand for smartphones across the world, it is a superb opportunity for LG to tap the potential of the smartphone segment.

Software Company Adobe has acknowledged that a significant work has to be done in enhancing Flash experience on mobile phones. The company also said that more than 20 million cell phones are capable of running Adobe Flash apps. Anup Murarka, technical marketing director of Adobe said that in the first half of the current year nearly 40 Flash enabled smartphones are expected to be shipped. Notably support for Flash is important while browsing web and watching HD videos.

In a bid to capture the foothold on the growing smartphone market, Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia announced on 
Friday that it will form a strategic partnership with software giant Microsoft and will use its Windows Phone OS as platform for its smart phones.
The tie-up announced in London by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer means that one can soon expect the phasing out of Symbian OS which has been used by Nokia for long and helped it to become one of the prominent smartphone vendors.
