It’s no secret how Bill Gates views Google and its Android operating system. One fine afternoon Gates, while browsing the web discovered that Google was recruiting ex-Microsoft employees. That’s when the penny dropped – Google was competing with the ‘Big Boys’ in the OS market.
There is a new app to add in the already intensive library of Google code for your Android phone. You can use it for everything from Gmail to Google Maps, and now you get to have a global view too thanks to the new Google Earth Mobile app for Android.

Wondering why you couldn’t download the Skype for Windows Mobile from the company website? Skype has confirmed that it will no longer offer Skype for Windows Mobile, as it felt that the version is not offering the best user experience compare to Symbian and iPhone version. The company has posted a faq says, “We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. Our focus is on providing a rich user experience that allows you to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as you do at your desktop. We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile were not offering the best possible Skype experience.”
While we’re waiting for new phones like the X10 or the C6 to be announced, Nokia’s busy launching luxury editions of already-available handsets.
Take the Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition for example, which has been unveiled today.
The N97 mini Gold Edition is dressed in 18-carat gold and comes with apps like “ELLE 360Fashion”, which should help fashion lovers follow the latest trends and news.
Other than that, the Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition has the same features the regular edition includes: 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, HSPA, GPS, Nokia Maps, 3.5mm headset jack, 8GB of internal memory, and a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.
Officially unveiled during MWC 2010, the Motorola Quench / Motorola Cliq XT will be available soon in Brazil, via TIM (the country’s third largest mobile carrier, with more than 40 million subscribers).
Running Android 1.5, the Quench is the only phone with MotoBlur that doesn’t have a hardware QWERTY keyboard.
Its features include: 3.1 inch HVGA touchscreen display, accelerometer, HSPA, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, Swype, HTML browser, 3.5mm headset jack, stereo Bluetooth, FM radio, 5MP autofocus camera with flash, 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, and a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz processor.
If having to constantly run various instant messaging applications on your Nokia N900 handset may be too confusing and frustrating, you’re going to be in luck because Fring IM has landed your way. Owners of the smartphone can actually simplify their instant messaging needs by using the popular Fring IM client that’s finally been made available – it supports Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo!, and AOLL Instant Messenger. Not only will the download be free, but you’ll have the ability to start chatting with friends and fringsters – at the same time, there’s no need to get yourself wrapped up in figuring out which client to use. This would make perfect sense for those users that want to keen in touch with friends that strictly rely on using a specific provider for their instant messaging needs.

If you’re in the US and you want a Nokia X6 16GB, it looks like you can buy one right now if you visit Nokia’s flagship stores in Chicago or New York.
The X6 16GB costs $455 (plus some taxes) – less than the N97 or the N97 mini. Unlike the Nokia X6 32GB, the X6 16GB doesn’t include Nokia’s Comes With Music service and has more color versions (including all black, and yellow on white). The X6 16GB also features a 360 x 640 pixels capacitive touchscreen display, HSPA, Wi-Fi, Nokia Maps, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, and a 5MP Carl Zeiss camera.
You can also order the X6 16GB via Nokia USA’s online store for the same price ($455), but you won’t receive it until the end of the month.
In the leaked video you can see what the Windows Mobile 7 UI would have looked like, if Microsoft hadn’t decided to scrap the plans of a new Windows Mobile, and go with a whole new design that we today know as Metro UI on Windows Phone 7 Series.
